The Challenge
A 3-acre residential bluffside property was completely choked with mature, 15-foot common buckthorn. The homeowners could not access the St. Croix River overlook and the invasive trees were killing the native white oaks.
Our Process
We utilized our skid-steer loader equipped with a high-flow Fecon mulcher. We carefully navigated the slopes, grinding down the buckthorn understory while protecting the oak canopy. Stumps were cut completely flush.
The Result
Restored access to the river bluff and created a clean woodland floor. The client immediately saw an increase in sunlight and native plant emergence. The organic wood mulch layer protected the steep slope from erosion during heavy rain.
